Since I didn't do a "looking back" entry for this beer, I guess I should do so while the memory is at all fresh. These disappeared a bit faster than the holiday ales, even though they were a bit sedimenty (probably want to let it go a little longer in the primary, so it makes a more solid cake).
As with many of my recent beers, head retention was horrific -- probably worse with this one than any other in awhile. While the flavor was okay, I would just say this beer was "drinkable" and leave it at that. Nothing was great about it, and it certainly didn't live up to my expectations. It definitely needed some more hoppiness and just generally a better, more balanced array of flavors. And the fact that it was ugly when poured into a glass didn't help (no head, with chunky-looking sediment).
So in summary, this was a disappointment. People seemed happy enough to drink it, so it wasn't an utter failure, but it could have been a lot better.
